Abstract
"The call of the wild" is the representative of American novelist Jack London. Success of the novel lies in the use of symbolism in the book, gives the works profound ideological content. This paper interprets the symbolic significance of Buck in "the call of the wild", then it leads to the key role of the writing techniques in deepening the theme of the novel, thought connotation and meaning, and affirms the value of works of literature.
