Research Status of Plant Leaf Functional Traits in Response to Environment
Plants have evolved a suite of physiological traits that respond to changes in the external environment over extended periods of adaptation and evolution, known as functional traits. The leaf, being the organ with the closest contact with the external environment and the largest surface area, serves as a reflection of the plant's response and adaptation to environmental factors, acting as a crucial interface between the plant and its surroundings. This review provides an overview of current research on environmental responses related to plant functional traits by examining literature in this field. It encompasses various aspects including:(1)light responsiveness of leaf functional traits,(2)temperature responsiveness of leaf functional traits,(3)water responsiveness of leaf functional traits,(4)altitude responsiveness of leaf functional traits,(5)other environmental factor responsiveness exhibited by leaf functional traits. Finally, future trends in research on plant functional traits are discussed.
