Research on decoupling between water resource utilization and economy in Guizhou Province from perspective of water footprint
Water resources are an indispensable basic resource.Based on the water footprint model, the evaluation index sys-tem of water resources utilization in Guizhou Province was constructed, and the water resources utilization and its decoupling relationship with the economy in Guizhou Province from 2001 to 2022 were analyzed from the perspective of water footprint. The results show that the total water footprint of Guizhou Province shows an increasing trend, with an average annual growth rate of 2.55%,of which the agricultural water footprint(the largest proportion),ecological water footprint(the smallest pro-portion)and domestic water footprint show an increasing trend, the industrial water footprint shows a trend of increasing first and then decreasing, and the virtual water footprint of imports and exports shows a fluctuating and decreasing trend. On the whole, the province is self-sufficient in water resources, and the economic benefits of water footprint are improving year by year, but the water consumption per unit land area increases, and the water stress index and scarcity index show a fluctuating upward trend, which is unsustainable use.In general, the water resources utilization and economic growth showed a weak de-coupling state, with a decoupling index of 0.009,and the decoupling of industrial water resources utilization and industrial economic growth showed a strong decoupling state, with a decoupling index of-0.002.The results of this study can provide a scientific basis for the planning and management of water resources in Guizhou Province.
