《孟子》中涉"水"论述的英译评析——以"大中华文库"中《孟子》英译本为例

摘要
水既是生命之源,又是文化的重要载体.孟子作为儒家思想的重要代表,通过"水"这一载体对儒家的仁政思想、治国之道、人性之善、为人处世和求学之道进行了生动而形象的阐述.本文以入选"大中华文库"的《孟子》英译本为例,评析其中涉"水"论述英译的优势与不足,并就不足之处提出改进意见,以期为中国文化典籍外译提供些许启示和借鉴.
Abstract
Water is not only the source of life,but also the carrier of human culture.With the help of"water",Men-cius clearly illustrates such Confucian thoughts as rule by benevolence,way of governance,human kindness,ways of learning,handling and behaving for gentlemen.Taking the English version of Mencius which is included in"Library of Chinese Classics"as an example,this paper analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of translating water-relat-ed expressions,and puts forwards some suggestion on improvements,which may provide some experience for classics translation of Chinese culture in the future.
