From November 2020 to March 2021,Jiangxi Provincial Bureau of Cultural Relics,according to the work deployment of the CPC Central Committee,the State Council and the National Cutural Heritage Administration,organized professionals of Jiangxi Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology to carry out a special investigation on the grotto temples(including cliff statues)in Jiangxi Province.The scope of the investigation was the grotto temples(including cliff statues)dug before 1911 in Jiangxi Province.The investigation mainly includes the basic situation of grotto temples(including cliff statues)(such as the name,location,geographical coordinates,number and age of niches,and whether there are murals and colored paintings),preservation status and main risks(such as instability of cave rock structure,weathering of rock surface of grotto statues,water seepage and erosion damage of cracks,biological diseases and natural disasters,etc.),protection and management situation(including the establishment of grotto temple use and management institutions,personnel establishment,and main professional and technical personnel situation,etc.),and safety prevention situation(including the construction of security,fire protection and lightning protection facilities,facility use and operation situation,and the status of security institutions,etc.).Through this special investigation,we have comprehensively grasped the distribution and protection management of grotto temples and cliff statues in Jiangxi Province,providing a solid theoretical basis for the protection,research,management,and utilization of grotto temples and cliff statues in our province during the 14th Five Year Plan period.
