The Xishan Cemetery in Lixie Village,located on the northwest side of Xishan in Hengxi Town,Yinzhou District,Ningbo,Zhejiang Province,spans from the Eastern Han to the Three Kingdoms period and extends to the Ming and Qing Dynasties,with the largest number of tombs dating from the Ming and Qing periods.This archaeological excavation uncovered a total of 114 tombs,including five from the Eastern Han to the Three Kingdoms period,three from the Two Jin Dynasties,seven from the Southern Dynasties period,three from the Sui and Tang Dynasties,and 96 from the Ming and Qing periods,along with a small amount of remains.The cemetery's extensive usage,abundant tombs,and diverse types offer new insights into the distribution patterns,tomb structures,tomb construction,and brick-making of Han and Jin period tombs in the Ningshao Plain and the broader eastern Zhejiang region,holding significant research value.Study of the numerous and distinct Ming and Qing period tombs can deepen our understanding of Ming and Qing funeral systems and customs in the southeastern coastal region during that era.
