Under the profound influence of the Eurasian Steppes,the pastoral economy in Gan-Qing area experienced rapid development during the Late Bronze Age.However,the processes and characteristics of this development require further investigation.Ethnographic research can provide valuable insights into these issues.This study focuses on the pastoral areas of QilianCounty,Qinghai province,employing a combination of field surveys and interviews.Ethnographic surveys were conducted with seven herder households located in the eastern and westernparts of QilianCounty.The study elucidates the characteristics of seasonal transhumance practiced by Qilianherders,as well as their livestock structures,breeding strategies and animal utilization methods.These findings offer implications for understanding the formation processes of the pastoral economy inGan-Qing area during the Bronze Age and for deepening our knowledge of early herding practices.
