Ningshao region has a long coastline with mountains and sea.Marine resources are abundant in sea around Zhoushan Archipelago with numerous islands.According to the current archaeological materials,coastal settlements have a historical practice of relying on marine resources.Throughout various periods,settlements at different distances from the sea exhibited varying degrees of exploiting and utilizing these resources.8,000 years ago,the Jingtoushan community primarily sourced their food from the sea,while 4,000 years later,the Daxie people pioneered sea salt production.Prehistoric societies navigated and harvested the ocean using canoes,rafts,and wooden oars.
