Efficacy of tibolone on postmenopausal tinnitus women and its effect on neurotransmitter lev-els and sleep quality
Aim To explore the efficacy of tibolone in postmenopausal women with tinnitus and its effect on neurotransmitter levels and sleep quality. Methods 106 patients with postmenopausal tinnitus admitted were randomly divided into control group(n=53)and observation group(n=53).Both groups received comprehensive management of perimenopausal period. The control group took oryzanol tablets orally, and the observation group took tibolone tablets orally+oryzanol tablets orally. The clinical efficacy,Kupperman menopause index(KMI),Tinnitus handicap index(THI),Pittsburgh sleep quality index(PSQI)score and serum estra-diol(E2),follicle stimulating hormone(FSH),luteinizing hormone(LH),5-hydroxytryptamine(5-HT),norepinephrine(NE)levels before and after treatment were compared between the two groups. Results The total clinical effective rate of the observation group was higher than that of the control group(P<0.05).After treatment, the KMI,THI,and PSQI scores of both groups decreased, and the observation group was lower than the control group; The serum E2 and 5-HT levels in both groups increased, and the observation group was higher than the control group. The FSH,LH,and NE levels in both groups decreased, and the obser-vation group was lower than the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion Tibolone can significantly improve tinnitus symptoms and sleep quality in postmenopausal women, and the regulation of sex hormones, neurotransmitter levels may be its mechanism of action.
