Analysis of the expression levels and diagnostic value of miR-506-3p,sST2,and CEA in pa-tients with malignant pleural effusion
Aim To analyze the expression levels and diagnostic value of miR-506-3p,soluble growth stimulated expression gene 2 protein(sST2),and carcinoembryonic antigen(CEA)in patients with malignant pleural effusion. Methods 108 patients with pleural effusion were selected as the study group.According to the results of ultrasound examination and pathological examina-tion,32 patients with tuberculosis pleural effusion were included in the tuberculosis group, and 41 patients with cancerous pleural effu-sion and 35 patients with lymphomatous pleural effusion were included in the malignant group. In addition,54 cases of health exami-nation patients in our hospital were randomly selected and included in the control group. The serum levels of sST2 and CEA between the patients in study group and the healthy individuals undergoing physical examinations in control group were compared. The levels of miR-506-3p,sST2,and CEA in pleural fluid of patients in the malignant group and the tuberculosis group were compared. The di-agnostic value of various indicators for benign and malignant pleural effusion was analyzed by ROC.Results Serum sST2 and CEA levels, were in an order of malignant group>tuberculosis group>control group(P<0.05).Compared with the tuberculosis group,miR-506-3p levels in pleural fluid of the malignant group was decreased(P<0.05),while the levels of sST2 and CEA were in-creased(P<0.05).The ROC results show that serum sST2,CEA,and miR-506-3p,sST2,CEA levels in pleural fluid have diag-nostic value for malignant pleural effusion.Furthermore, the combined diagnosis had the highest sensitivity. Conclusion The expression of miR-506-3p in pleural fluid is low, while the expression of sST2 and CEA in serum and pleural fluid is high in patients with malignant pleural effusion, which has certain diagnostic value for malignant pleural effusion.Furthermore, the combined diagno-sis had the highest sensitivity.
