Stroke has a high mortality and disability rate.Vulnerable carotid plaques have been shown to play an extremely important role in the onset of stroke.A variety of ultrasound techniques can be used to evaluate the composition and surface morpholo-gy of carotid plaques and provide different evaluation indicators.This article summarizes the research progress of conventional and new ultrasound techniques in the assessment of carotid plaque vulnerability,as well as the advantages and limitations of each tech-nique,and discusses the critical values of related parameters,which has important guiding significance for early diagnosis of stroke and formulation of treatment and follow-up plans.
