Diagnostic value of homocysteine-folate metabolism to hypertensive disorders of pregnancy
Aim To evaluate the diagnostic value of homocysteine(Hcy)-folate metabolism to hypertensive disorders of pregnancy(HDP).Methods 411 pregnant women aged 24-28 weeks in our hospital were selected and their peripheral blood fo-late,formyltetrahydrofolate,methyltetrahydrofolate,and Hcy levels were measured by using liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry technology. They were divide into Hcy positive group and negative group based on Hcy levels,or HDP group and non HDP group(NHDP group)based on blood pressure related conditions. The incidence of HDP,folate, formyltetrahydrofolate, and methyltetra-hydrofolate abnormalities between the Hcy positive group and the negative group were compared. The levels of Hcy,folate,formyltet-rahydrofolate,and methyltetrahydrofolate in patients between the HDP group and NHDP group were compared.Pearson correlation a-nalysis was used to examine the correlation between Hcy and HDP,and ROC analysis to assess the diagnostic value of Hcy in the oc-currence of HDP.Results Of 411 pregnant women, there were 86 cases of high Hcy(20.92%),2 cases of folate abnormalities(0.49%),79 cases of formyltetrahydrofolate abnormalities(19.22%),35 cases of methyltetrahydrofolate abnormalities(8.52%),and 58 cases of HDP(14.11%).The incidence of HDP and abnormal formyltetrahydrofolate in the Hcy positive group were higher than that in the Hcy negative group(P<0.05).The gestational age at which HDP occurred in the Hcy positive group was greater than that in the Hcy negative group(P<0.05).The Hcy,prepregnancy body mass, prepregnancy body mass index(BMI),and de-livery body mass of the HDP group were all higher than those of the NHDP group(P<0.05).The occurrence of HDP is significantly correlated with high Hcy,prepregnancy body mass, prepregnancy BMI,and delivery body mass(P<0.05).Hey has certain diag-nostic value for HDP.Conclusion Pregnant women with a high incidence of abnormal levels of formyltetrahydrofolate and high Hcy,and high Hcy is closely related to the incidence of gestational hypertension.Hcy may be a serological marker for predicting the occurrence of HDP.
