Observation of the efficiency of the modified Hamra blepharoplasty combined with cauteriza-tion of hypertrophic blood vessels on lower eyelid bags with dark circles
Aim To observe the efficacy of the modified Hamra blepharoplasty with cauterization of the hypertrophic blood vessels on lower eyelid bags with dark circles. Methods The clinical data of 60 patients with lower eyelid bags with dark circles were retrospectively analyzed. The patients were divided into a modified group(modified Hamra blepharoplasty)and a combined group(modified Hamra blepharoplasty combined with cauterization of hypertrophic blood vessels)according to the surgical approaches. The degree of improvement of eye bags in two groups was evaluated by using lowereyelid relaxation grading. The changes of dark cir-cles were evaluated based on visual dark circle score; The improvement of skin appearance were evaluated by using lower eyelid skin color parameters. The improvement of tear trough deformity was evaluated by using tear trough rating scale;Satisfaction were evalua-ted by using the visual analogue scale. The incidence of complications between two groups were compared. Results After sur-gery,both groups showed significant improvement in eye bags and tear troughs deformities compared with them before surgery, but there was no significant difference between the two groups(P>0.05).Compared with them before surgery, both groups showed im-provement in the degree of dark circles and skin color after surgery, and the combined group showed more significant improvement than the modified group(P<0.05).The postoperative satisfaction of the combined group was higher than that of the modified group(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the total incidence of complications between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclu-sion Modified Hamra blepharoplasty combined with cauterization of hypertrophic blood vessels has a definite therapeutic effect on pa-tients with lower eyelid bags with dark circles, and can improve the deformities of lower eyelid bags, dark circles, and tear troughs, with low complications.
