Regulatory effects of fecal microbiota transplantation on gut microbiota,brain-enteric-bacte-ria axis,IFN-γ and IL-4 levels in patients with irritable bowel syndrome
Aim To explore the regulatory effect of fecal microbiota transplantation on gut microbiota,brain-enteric-bacteria axis,interferon-γ(IFN-γ)and interleukin-4(IL-4)levels in patients suffered from irritable bowel syndrome. Methods 138 pa-tients with IBS were selected and divided into fecal transplantation group(62 cases)and probiotic group(76 cases),according to the treatment methods.Intestinal flora,IFN-γ,IL-4,gastrointestinal function(vasoactive intestinal peptide, somatostatin, substance P,motilin levels),as well as IBS quality of life scale(IBS-QOL),IBS severity system score(IBS-SSS),gastrointestinal symptom rating scale(GSRS)before and after treatment, and clinical efficacy of the two groups were compared. Results After treatment, the number of enterobacterium, enterococcus and yeast,IFN-γ,IL-4,IBS-QOL,IBS-SSS,GSRS scores, vasoactive intestinal peptides and somatostatin decreased in both groups, while the number of lactobacillus,bifidobacterium,IL-4,substance P and motilin in-creased.The improvement of fecal transplantation group was more significant than that of probiotic group(P<0.05).The total ef-fective rate of fecal transplantation group was higher than that of probiotic group(P<0.05).Conclusion Fecal transplantation can help IBS patients rebuild intestinal microecological balance, improve clinical efficacy and quality of life, and promote the recovery of gastrointestinal function.
