Research progress on the roles of MMP-9 in female-related malignancies
Matrix metalloproteinase-9(MMP-9)is a matrix metalloproteinase that plays an important role in a variety of biolog-ical processes,which can cleave extracellular matrix(ECM)proteins and regulate ECM remodeling,an important part of tumor prolif-eration,invasion and metastasis.Meanwhile,MMP-9 can also mediate the tumor microenvironment,therefore,MMP-9 plays a role in promoting the occurrence and development of cancer.This article provides an overview of the research progress of MMP-9 in fe-male-related malignant tumors to provide a basis for treatment,management and prognosis in female-related tumors.
