On Integrating Moral Education into Teaching Practices for General English Courses in Higher Vocational Colleges
Boasting both practical and humanistic qualities,English courses in higher vocational education should fully realize its moral education function based on its course characteristics and course content. This paper applies Wen Qiufang's proposed framework for integrating moral education into foreign language courses to the general English courses in vocational education, exploring the paths, methods, and characteristics of integrating moral education from four dimensions:teaching content, course management, assessment, and teacher's behavior. The teaching content chain, located at the core, starts with understanding hierarchical educational goals, furthers in teaching content analysis through three steps of refining unit themes, exploring ideological and political elements, and optimizing content configuration, and then is implemented in profession-oriented teaching plans. At the same time, the management chain which forms a community of teachers and students on three dimensions, the evaluation chain that highlights the application of online teaching platforms, and the teacher's behavior chain that focuses on the role-modeling of teacher teams, all revolve around the content chain.Examining the construction of moral education in vocational general English courses from the perspective of implementing the four chains helps to continuously refine and implement the construction of moral education, and enhance the moral education effectiveness of general English courses.
