Patterns and Optimization of Adult Student Relational Networks from the Perspective of Social Network Theory
Under the context of high-quality development,how to strengthen adult learners'sense of belonging in open universities is an important issue faced by various grassroots quality enhancement projects in open universities.Adult learners'relational networks can,on one hand,enhance their sense of belonging in open universities,and on the other hand,improve the school's resource mobilization capacity,effectively elevating the quality of education.Based on social network theory,this paper examines adult learners'relational networks from the perspectives of "relationships","structure",and "capital",revealing a pattern characterized by low connectivity and interaction,high heterogeneity,low tightness,and insufficient capital stock.Dongguan Open University enhances connectivity and interaction through student organization development,creates personalized relational networks to meet diverse developmental needs,and cultivates social capital to support both school development and student growth,making representative practical explorations.Learning from this experience,grassroots open universities should focus on fostering student organizations,forming effective organizational coverage,optimizing relational networks,increasing social capital,strengthening students'sense of belonging,and improving educational quality.
