Preparation and properties of reinforced SiO2 aerogel with hydroxylated glass fiber
Hydroxylated glass fibers are used as reinforcement to enhance the mechanical properties of SiO2 aerogel. The optimal process parameters were determined through orthogonal experiments.A comparative study was conducted on the effects of glass fiber hydroxylation,as well as the amount and length of fiber additions on SiO2 aerogels, including an investigation of their mechanisms of influence. The results showed that the porosity of SiO2 aerogel obtained from the optimal composition ratio reached 97.34%.Hydroxylated glass fibers effectively improved the mechanical properties of SiO2 aerogel. When the added mass fraction was 5%and the ratio of short fibers(3 mm)to long fibers(10 mm)was 2:8,the thermal conductivity of SiO2 aerogel was 0.028 4 W/(m·K)and the compressive strength reached 0.37 MPa.
