Research progress on seismic performance and design methods for multi-storey timber structures
As an important part of Chinese traditional architectural culture, timber structures are characterized by low carbon emissions, environmental friendliness, and good seismic performance. With the development of prefabricated buildings and the implementation of the"Dual Carbon"strategy, research on timber structures and their applications in engineering has gradually become a hot topic in the industry.Focusing on the passive seismic resistance of timber structures, this paper expounded on the structural systems, seismic codes, and seismic design methods. It analyzed and summarized the latest progress and development trends in seismic research. The lateral stiffness, failure modes, deformation, and energy dissipation capacity of common structures were researched. The paper also compared and summarized the calculation of base seismic forces in the seismic codes of different countries and areas, integrating existing research on seismic design methods to provide a reference for the development and engineering applications of seismic resistance in timber structures.
