摘要
美国学者罗德民和利奥波德都是土地伦理思想的重要先驱.在当代西方环境思想史叙述中,罗德民几乎完全被掩盖在利奥波德的光辉之下.然而,罗德民不仅提出过以子孙后代长远福祉和文明长久兴旺为目标的土地伦理,其科学研究也曾为利奥波德的土地伦理奠定重要的科学基础.罗德民的土地伦理思想发源于中国,他本人也对中国的土地保护和水土保持事业做出过突出贡献.在与利奥波德相比较的视野中,可以发现罗德民在对土地的认识、人与土地的道德关系以及保护土地的目标和责任归属等问题上均有独特而富有启发意义的观点.罗德民的土地伦理在中国孕育,在他对全球多地的考察中发展,并对包括中国在内的许多国家地区的土地政策产生过积极影响,是一种既具有中国特征、又具有世界意义的环境伦理思想,值得进一步挖掘和阐释.
Abstract
The American scholars Lowdermilk and Leopold were both important pioneers in land ethics.In contemporary accounts of the history of Western environmental thought,Lowdermilk has been almost entirely overshadowed by Leopold.However,Lowdermilk proposed the land ethic aimed at the long-term well-being of future generations and the long-lasting prosperity of civilization.Furthermore,his scientific research laid an important scientific foundation for Leopold's land ethic.Lowdermilk's land ethic originated in China,and he himself has made outstanding contributions to the cause of land protection and soil and water conservation in China.In comparison with Leopold,it can be found that Lowdermilk has unique and inspiring views on the understanding of land,the ethical relationship between human beings and land,as well as the goal of land protection and the attribution of moral responsibility.The excavation and interpretation of Lowdermilk's thought will help people deeply understand the land ethic that originated in China and has global significance.
