Abstract
Based on traditional Australian Aboriginal oral stories,Pilkington's Follow the Rabbit-Proof Fence utilizes the central imagery of"fence"to refract the existential situation of Aboriginal Australians and their historical and cultural changes after the colonial invasion. From the theoretical perspective of postcolonial ecocriticism, this paper examines the complex connotations of the cultural imagery of"fence"in the novel, which has both ecological connotations and colonial discourse, exposes the ecological and cultural colonization of Western Australia by European colonizers, explores the postcolonial ecological meaning of the novel, exposes the cultural and practical path of Aboriginal resistance to colonization, thus highlighting the importance of multiracial cultural intermingling and harmony between human and nature in the process of globalization.
