Since the emergence of environmental ethics in the 1970s,there has been a core issue in academia:how to establish a solid metaphysical foundation for environmental ethics.In the Chinese context,this issue can also be converted into the question of how to establish a solid metaphysical foundation for the harmonious coexistence of man and nature.However,when exploring the metaphysical foundations for environmental ethics,the academia has not recognized that Hegelian philosophy can make corresponding theoretical contributions.This paper attempts to provide a metaphysical proof for the harmonious coexistence of man and nature through Hegelian Philosophy.Specifically,Idea is developed as different links within its own totality,and thus inevitably establish ethical substance in its normativity through self-awareness of will.The ethical substance,on the other hand,is the universal order in which all beings acquire moral value or moral status.Therefore,the harmonious coexistence of man and nature is reflected in the Idea that ethical substance must be developed into a universal order in which both human and natural beings enjoy moral value or moral status.
