The outbreaks of multiple global epidemics since the 21st century have become important manifestations of"the Anthropocene disease",prompting humanities scholars to deeply consider the relationship between human health and the health of the environment, and giving rise to a new field of ecocriticism known as"medical-environmental humanities".In this interview,Professor Scott Slovic,a global leader in ecocriticism, described the emerging field of medical-environmental humanities, discussed the origin, necessity, core concepts, and theoretical significance of the field, analyzed the interpretive paradigms and critical discourses of the medical-environmental humanities and conducted exemplary case studies with specific texts. This helps domestic scholars deepen their understanding of this international academic frontier and better apply critical discourse to their research, opening up a new space for ecocriticism.
