A Research on the Demand and Use of Smart Products of the Elderly
The demand and use of smart products by the elderly directly influence the development of the smart elderly care industry.Taking the elderly in Jiangning District of Nanjing as respondents, the demand and use of intelligent products of the elderly are investigated. It is found that the elderly do not have a high under-standing of smart products.Only social products such as smartphones are in high demand and frequent use;high demand but low utilization includes health monitoring devices such as smart bracelets and other health monitoring equipment, safety alert devices like smoke detectors, and emergency rescue devices like smart e-mergency call systems;low demand and low use include indoor security monitoring equipment, smart home e-quipment for living assistance, smart pill boxes for memory assistance, and spiritual entertainment companion robots.Based on the theory of planned behavior and risk society,it is found that the educational level, age, and subjective perception of perceived behavioral control among the elderly significantly affect their use of smart products. It is recommended to pay attention to the needs of the elderly in the digital age and fully re-spect their autonomy.Smart products should be designed and promoted according to the needs and use pat-terns of the elderly, encouraging multi-party collaboration to digitally empower the elderly and promote the in-tegration of eldercare services and innovative applications of smart products.
