The Evolution of Migrant Population Patterns and the Population Outflow Issue in Tianjin under Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Coordinated Development
Using census data, this study analyzes the population migration trends within the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, with a particular focus on the issue of population loss in Tianjin. It is found that there are obvi-ous differences in the growth of floating population in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei cities, showing a trend of unbal-anced inter-provincial flow, active internal flow and diversified patterns of flow.Although the coordinated de-velopment policy of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region has facilitated regional population mobility,it has not sig-nificantly accelerated the influx of population into Tianjin, instead,Tianjin has experienced the highest rate of population outflow among the three areas. The population development of Tianjin is faced with multiple challen-ges such as the sharp decrease of the inflow population, the pessimistic job market and the aggravation of aging population and the separation of residence and household registration. It is necessary to respond from the as-pects of population coordination management, industrial structure optimization, job market activation, and ur-ban function optimization. In order to effectively deal with the problem of population flow in the development of urban agglomerations, the main bodies of urban agglomerations should be clearly positioned, reshape urban functions and upgrade industries, and remove institutional barriers restricting population flow.
