The bilocal marriage is a practical reform of the traditional family system after the adjustment of birth policy and population structure.Driven by the principles of filial piety and the traditional culture of family continuity,bilocal marriage families demonstrate filial piety in the living style,ancestor worship cere-mony and practice of passing down surnames to their children.Under this bilateral balance mechanism,after marriage is concluded,both parties take turns living with and caring for their respective parents,sharing eco-nomic expenses to maintain relatives,and participating in important festival ceremonies within both original families to provide spiritual and emotional comfort to both parties'parents and strengthen familial support sys-tems.It is necessary to actively expand the demonstration effect of the new marriage custom by reshaping the family tradition of filial piety and respect for the elderly,supporting the elderly to establish close community relations and promote the neighbor support for the elderly,strengthening policy protection and legal mecha-nisms,and promoting the construction of a stable family community in the new era.
