Wang Yangming's Xinxue and Contemporary Mental Health Education:Cultural Insights,Intrinsic Logic, and Practical Implications
Paying attention to mental health and valuing mental health education is crucial for promo-ting social development, and exploring the indigenous resources for mental health education based on Chinese culture is of paramount importance.Since Wang Yangming's Xinxue 心学(philosophy of mind)contains the commonality of human perception and culture, when reflecting on the current state of the mental health of Chinese people and the education in this regard we can see the positive value of his Xinxue in these two aspects.Wang's theory embodies the human relationship of"having people in the eyes, having emotions in the heart, helping oneself, and helping others to achieve success".Through interpreting the psychological implications of Xinxue,we propose a"five-link model"of mental health education, which comprises the five links of"relationship building, caring for needs, focusing on the positive, taking key actions, and valuing the critical present moment".On this basis,we argue that mental health education should follow the combination of universal principle and practical tactics, disciplinary integration and life education, thus providing a reference path for guiding the development of indigenous mental health education in China.
