This article discusses a particular type of ghost story,known as the"historical ghost story",which is often centered on the historical"martyr"or victim,and its theme is closely related to the story of the death of the individual,as a metaphor for the fall of the dynasty and the resulting trauma.This paper discusses six kinds of"Lin Siniang"stories from the 17 th century,distinguishes the types of Lin Siniang stories by comparing these versions,analyzes the variations of stories and similar stories of"the return of the court concubine".The plot of this kind of story dominates the nostalgia literature,expressing the mourning for the glory and decline of the dynasty.Using the story of Lin Siniang as an example,the author shows how ghost stories of this type become part of the cul-tural project of mourning the Ming Dynasty,allowing the memories of the old dynasty to resurface and eventually be pacified.This process highlights the unique significance of historical ghost stories and explores the transformation and metamorphosis between these stories and the historical memory of the fall of dynasties.
