An Examination of the Forms of the Bongo,Bongobun,and Kango Categories Seen in the Kōryaku Recension:Some Distinctive Dictionarial Characteristics of the Sounds and Glosses to the Dai Hannyakyōin Medieval Japan
The contents of the Kōryaku recension of the Sounds and Glosses to the Dai Hannyakyō,housed in Japan's Dai Tōkyū Memorial Library,as one of the"Mukyūkai series of manuscripts",are not seen in the important hand-copied manuscripts such as the Mukyūkai edi-tion,the Tenri edition,and others.This paper examines some aspects of the Kōryaku recension,pointing out some distinctive dictionarial characteristics of the Sounds and Glosses to the Dai Hannyakyōin medieval Japan.
