It is well-known that Merleau-Ponty's phenomenology has influenced embodied cog-nition deeply. However, the relation between his philosophy and extended cognition has not been studied yet. This paper argues that Merleau-Ponty did not have direct impact on the development of extended cognition from the historical point of view. However, his phenomenology supports the latter from the logical point of view. Both rejects internalism. Both argues that perception and cognition are based on coupling of agents and technologies. This way of thinking would make us better under-stand the constitutive meaning of technology to human cognition in high-tech society.
