Benefit Distribution,Class Division and Citizen Livelihood in Social Policy:Evidence from the 2017 Chinese Social Survey
Nowadays, the principal contradiction in Chinese society has undergone a huge transformation in the overall situation. This requires the Communist Party of China and its govern-ment to pay more attention to the improvement of people's livelihood while keeping the economy running smoothly. What factors influence people's livelihood? What is the influencing mechanism? In order to answer this question,we construct the analysis framework of benefit distribution, class di-vision,citizen livelihood on the basis of integration theories of economics and sociology from the so-cial policy perspective.Data analysis shows that citizen's livelihood depends on the structure of in-terest distribution and the relative position in the society. In the primary distribution, the role of cul-tural capital is relatively stronger, while the role of spatial capital and social capital is relatively wea-ker.In the institutional redistribution, the public evaluation of government performance also has a significant positive impact on the living conditions of citizens.Social class plays an intermediary role in the relationship between the distribution of interests and the living conditions of citizens, but this intermediary role is different among families with different income levels. To improve people's liveli-hood and realize the benign interaction between initial distribution and institutional redistribution, the key lies in whether the re-commercialization and de-commercialization of labor force can draw on each other's strengths.By reducing the generality, immediacy and volatility of concept measurement,as well as linking the research path from"capital"to"habitus"and then to"livelihood",this paper not only provides empirical evidence for examining the influencing factors and their mechanism of citi-zen's living condition, from the perspectives of economics and sociology, but also provides targeted decision-making reference for further improving the construction of people's livelihood practically.
