The Debate between Dialectic and Positivism:Critique and Reflection on Positivism in the Age of Technology
The debate between dialectic and positivism is a product of the evolution of human thought in the context of modernisation and development,which has led to the formation of Marxism and positivism,two different paths of understanding for examining the development of society in the age of technology.As a scientistic philosophical trend,positivism in the process of development is increasingly moving towards the position of scientism,pursuing the shaping of modem society into a precise,digital and symbolic mechanical world,and ultimately internalised as the ideology of capital-ist society.The prevalence of positivism has led to a crisis of meaning and value in human civilisa-tion.Humanists tried to save the lost values in the process of modernisation by reflecting on and criti-cising positivism but failed.As a contemporaneous thought,Marxism's critique of positivism has made the theoretical collision of dialectic and positivism the main ideological theme for exploring the path of modernisation,and also provides us with the theoretical wisdom to promote the dialectical in-tegration of scientific spirit and humanism in the age of technology.
