The Exhibition and Reconstruction of Cultural Memory:A Cultural Studies Perspective on the Forbidden City
From the Forbidden City, serving as the political epicenter of the Ming and Qing dy-nasties,to the Palace Museum, which holds multiple meanings and values in the eyes of the people and within the context of Chinese civilization, the image of the Forbidden City has undergone over 600 years of vicissitudes. It serves as a mirror image reflecting the transformations in Chinese socie-ty,history,culture,and the spirit of the times. As a symbolic representation of Chinese civilization, the image of the Forbidden City contains the spiritual code of Chinese civilization, and serves as an academic resource and value reference system for constructing China's narrative and discourse sys-tem on the world stage.Following the fundamental requirement of"two combinations",with the im-age of the Forbidden City as the carrier, based on the microscopic perspective of constructing cultur-al identity, and through the exhibition and reconstruction of the memory field formed in multiple ex-periences,the cultural information and value demands contained in the history, architecture and cul-tural relics of the Forbidden City are fully displayed. It aims to provide a model case for strengthe-ning the Chinese cultural identity, strengthening the Chinese national identity and understanding how the Chinese nation moves towards modern civilization.
