In order to optimize the loading and harvesting height of sweet potato harvesters, this study delved into the damage incurred under mechanical collisions, particularly focusing on the"Suyu 8"model.Through finite element anal-ysis,the collision stress distribution of sweet potatoes at different heights was determined.Additionally, numerical simu-lations initially identified the safe mechanical collision height for sweet potatoes.Sweet potato collision experiments vali-dated these findings, indicating a significant increase in damage when drop heights exceeded 250mm,characterized by distinct dark brown patches.Establishing a maximum height of 250mm for loading sweet potato harvesters provides cruci-al guidance for ensuring safety during the transportation process.
