The history and development of media sociology in the perspective of knowledge production:On Media Sociology
Knowledge production is influenced by opportunity structures at the macro level, individual access to resources at the micro level, and community resources at the meso level. The field of media sociology in the United States has been affected by various institutional changes, and the"abandonment theory"has overlooked the contributions of many sociological theories to media sociology.Sociological theory from Europe has highlighted the ways in which structural forces shape communication and media practices, which in turn contribute to the(re)production of power. This paper proposes media sociology as a networked transfield driven by questions, which will allows scholars to take advantage of structural holes for synthesis and innovation.
