Neurobehavioral abnormalities in anti-N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor encephalitis
Anti-N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor encephalitis, the most important type of autoimmune encephalitis,is prevalent and often initially characterized by mental and behavioral abnormalities.Patients may be admitted to a psychiatric department, leading to missed diagnosis, misdiagnosis, and mistreatment. Therefore,a proper understanding and identifica-tion of mental and behavioral abnormalities in anti-N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor encephalitis are crucial for early diagnosis, timely treatment, and improving the prognosis of patients. This article reviews the pathogenesis, clinical manifestations, auxiliary examination, treatment options, and prognosis of mental and behavioral abnormalities to support clinicians in enhan-cing their awareness and recognition of mental and behavioral abnormalities in anti-N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor encephalitis.
