Cancer and atherosclerosis:sharing mechanisms and bidirectional effects
Cancer and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease(ASCVD)are the leading causes of death worldwide.With the aging of the population and the improvement of medical level,the number of patients with cancer and atherosclerotic heart disease is gradually increasing,and the survival time of patients is lengthening,which leads to the occurrence of comor-bidity of these two diseases.Secondly,because cancer and ASCVD share certain risk factors and pathophysiological proces-ses,the number of co-patients with cancer and ASCVD is further increased.Therefore,how to manage the growing number of patients with cancer-ASCVD comorbid has become an unprecedented challenge.In order to manage patients with cancer-AS-CVD comorbid more comprehensively,effectively and scientifically,this article reviews the relationship between cancer and atherosclerosis.
