APEC's New Vision and Strategic Choices for China's Participation
In the context of the accelerated evolution of unprecedented changes and as the largest and most influen-tial regional cooperation mechanism in the Asia-Pacific region,as well as the first regional economic cooperation organi-zation that China joined,APEC holds a special position in China's process of opening up to the outside world.Against the backdrop of significant changes unseen in a century,China should take the implementation of the APEC 2040 new vi-sion as an opportunity.This will allow APEC to play a more fully explored and utilized strategic platform role in promot-ing the construction of a community with a shared future for humanity,an open world economy,and the improvement of the global economic governance system.It will also provide support for continually expanding the development space for China's unique modernization.Simultaneously,efforts should be made to encourage all APEC members to seek com-mon ground and find the greatest common denominator,which can be understood as engaging in more outcome-oriented and pragmatic cooperation.Together,they can build a peaceful,stable,open,inclusive,clean,beautiful,and mutually protective Asia-Pacific region.
