In the literary production of the Eastern Han dynasty,there was a prevalent trend of"creating emotions for literature(content or themes)",known as the literary atmosphere of displaying talents and amusements.This trend emerged in the early Eastern Han period,reached its peak in the middle period,and continued to flourish in the later pe-riod.Although the literary production of displaying talents and amusements in the Eastern Han might not be directly re-lated to national affairs or people's livelihoods,it reflected undeniable historical and ideological values in the history of literature:the emphasis on showcasing competitive talents in writing,using words to craft and display artistic skills,and pursuing more delicate depictions and naturally exquisite expressions all contributed to the advancement of literary and artistic representation;the focus on expressing personal leisurely sentiments and valuing individual emotions,along with the novel literary concept of using literature as amusement,also propelled Eastern Han literature toward an independent and self-sufficient direction.
