Research on Literature of Modern and Contemporary Women's Newspapers and Periodicals and Chinese Women's Literature
Modern and contemporary women's newspapers and periodicals originated in the late Qing Dynasty and flourished in the 1930s and 1940s.They are important documents for the study of intellectual history and women's his-tory in the first half of the 20th century.Since the 21st century,with the reprinting and publication of periodical literature and the gradual popularization of database applications,more long-neglected women's newspapers and periodicals have been unearthed and entered the field of women's literature research.Women's newspapers and periodicals were dedi-cated to enlightening women,setting up various literary columns,supporting women's writing,and serving female read-ers.Their literary and documentary value has been fully reflected in the research of women's literature in the late Qing and early Republic of China,where the foundation was weak.Women's literature research needs to apply bibliographic theories and methods,handle the relationship between historical materials and criticism,and between gender and aesthet-ics,and play a role in the mutual supplementation of women's newspapers and various documents.This will further open up the interdisciplinary research of literature and gender and expand the research space for modern and contempo-rary women's literature.
