A Reexamination of the Connotation of Marx's Outlook on Equality
There are three basic positions emerging within the contemporary western political philosophy community re-garding the debates on the basic connotation of Marx's outlook on equality.G.A.Cohen and other scholars believe that Marx's view of equality is the concept of distributive equality. However, scholars like Alan Wood argue that it is a topic of equal rights. In the meantime,David Miller and others reckon that it refers to social equality.Based on a reexamination of Marx's classic works,Marx's concept of equality should belong to a kind of broad sense of social equality, with such scientific connotations that includes both distributive equality(the main aspects of economic equality)and the equality of rights(the main area of political equality),as well as the equality in status and social relations between people(the narrow sense of social equality).
