The establishment of the"Ji Hai Jian Chu"triggered significant political conflicts during the special period af-ter the Wuxu Coup.Senior scholars have provided a detailed interpretation of the political meaning of"Ji Hai Jian Chu".Howev-er,from the actual situation during the"Ji Hai Jian Chu"period,Pu Jun succeeded Emperor Tongzhi as the heir rather than Em-peror Guangxu himself,which did not violate the inheritance laws and customs of the Qing Dynasty.This has a very obvious pa-triarchal factor and also reflects the aspect of the royal family's patriarchal nature in the Qing Dynasty.
