Appeasement and Overawing:on the Governance Policy of the Western Jin Regime to the Huns
The Western Jin Dynasty is a special historical period for the development of ancient ethnic relations in China. With the wave of inward migration, many ethnic groups began to become active in the vast areas of northern China.Among them, the Hun demonstrated stronger ethnic cohesion and held an important position among many ethnic groups in the north. In order to consolidate its rule, the emerging Western Jin regime continuously strengthened its control over the Huns by changing the social system of Huns, adjusting the settlement of Hun tribes, rewarding Hun nobles, and recruiting and selling Huns people. On the one hand,it promoted the process of ethnic integration, but at the same time it also triggered the rebellion of Huns, which had a profound impact on the ethnic relations and historical development during this period.
