The Conditions and Significance of the Development of Neo-Confucianism in Yuan Dynasty under the Vision of Creating a Strong Sense of Community for the Chinese Nation
In Yuan Dynasty, the Chinese nation experienced the historical trend of cultural integration, which was partic-ularly evident in the development of Neo-Confucianism in the Yuan Dynasty. On the one hand, the Yuan rulers vigorously pro-moted the sinology, glorified Confucianism, and promoted the development of the Neo-Confucianism in Yuan Dynasty through the establishment of the imperial college, the restoration of the imperial examination, and the preferential treatment of the household registration of the Confucians. On the other hand, the cultural environment of the Yuan Dynasty was relaxed, and the principle of"following local customs"was adopted for all ethnic groups, and the thoughts of scholars were not interfered with the court, which greatly promoted the prosperity of the cultures of all ethnic groups in the Yuan Dynasty.Thus,Neo-Confucianism in the Yuan Dynasty had a great development in both the north and south. The Neo-Confucianists in the Yuan Dynasty not only promo-ted national communication and integration by spreading the basic theories of Neo-Confucianism,but also promoted the formation of the Chinese national community. In addition, they overcame the disadvantages of the Zhu Xi's school and Lujiuyuan's school, and opened up a new direction for the development of Neo-Confucianism,through the way of"blending Zhu with Lu".And the Yuan Dynasty also achieved cultural identity in the development of Yuan Neo-Confucianism,becoming the central dynasty that inherited the great tradition.
