Zhou Jianyun was a pioneer in the early Chinese film industry.In response to the current controversy about Zhou Jianyun's name and native place,this paper investigates his early artistic experience from the perspective of micro history.Zhou Jianyun,whose original name was Zhou Jun,has performed under the stage names"Jiang Chao"and"Yafu".His native place is Hefei,Anhui Province,not She County.In view of the relatively narrow research path of Zhou Jianyun's artistic activities in the past,this paper aims to retrace Zhou Jianyun's view of art criticism through review and analysis,which can not only reflect on the past entanglements between traditional art and modem art,but also peek into the attempts and exploration of early private filmmakers to position themselves in artistic practice and theoretical expansion.From 1912 to 1931,Zhou Jianyun wrote books and theories on drama,new play and film successively.Looking back on these artistic achievements is not only another exploration of the early Chinese film history,but also the internal appeal of the construction of Chinese film school.
