The"China"Identity of Northeast Ethnic Groups and the Formation of the Chinese Nation
In ancient China, various ethnic groups belonging to the four major lineages of the Huaxia-Han,Donghu,Sushen,and Hui-Mo,who lived in the northeast region and later entered the central plains to establish regimes, held a strong self-identification as the"descendants of Yandi and Huangdi",as part of"China",and as representatives of"Chinese orthodoxy".These groups actively incorporated their regimes into the historical and orthodox developmental lineage of China.Particularly after northeast-originating ethnic groups established regimes in the central plains, such as the unified Qing dynasty ruled by the Manchus, the concept of"China"as a unifying identity served as a bond connecting frontier and inland ethnic groups. This connection facilitated cohesion and the gradual formation of the Chinese nation. The northeast ethnic groups have made significant contributions to the formation of the Chinese nation and are poised to make new contributions to consolidating the consciousness of the Chinese national community.
