Temperature Characteristics at the Liangcheng Venue of the 14th National Winter Games
During the snowboard cross event of the 14th National Winter Games held in Liangcheng in 2023,extreme low temperatures and snowmelt caused by overly warm conditions were observed, which had significant impacts on the events.Based on the temperature observation data during December 2023 to February 2024 and ERA-5 reanalysis data, the temperature characteristics at the snowboard cross field were analyzed and the characteristics of temperature changes under different weather classification were studied. The results showed that:(1)Altitude and solar radiation differences were significant factors contributing to the variability in temperature distribution at snowboard cross field.(2)There was a diurnal variation in temperature, with the lowest temperature occurring around sunrise and the highest temperature appearing between 14:00 and 15:00.The diurnal temperature range was closely related to terrain, and the diurnal temperature range in valley areas was significantly greater than that in other regions.(3)During warm weather, affected by warm advections, the stations on hillsides experienced temperature increases at night, with higher altitudes experiencing greater warming intensities. On the other hand, the valley stations were affected by cold pools, resulting in continuous temperature decreases at night. Therefore, temperature inversions often occurred at night in the competition venue, with an inversion probability of 87.2%.The inversion intensity was strongest before sunrise and disappeared after sunrise.(4)During cold weather, influenced by cold advections, the diurnal variation characteristics were significantly weakened.
