Strong Convective Weather Characteristics in Eastern Inner Mongolia Under the Background of Cold Vortex
The weather processes affected by the Northeast China cold vortex in eastern Inner Mongolia from 2000 to 2021 were statistically analyzed using conventional observation and reanalysis data. The results indicated that the Northeast China cold vortex occurred throughout the year, with the highest frequency in May and June, usually lasting 3~4 days, and was more active in the northern region of eastern Inner Mongolia. The monthly variation of central intensity showed a unimodal distribution, and the movement paths could mainly divided into eastward, southeast and southward moving types. The high-frequency areas of short-term heavy rainfall were mainly distributed in the eastern and southern parts of Hulunbuir, the central and eastern parts of Hinggan League, most of Tongliao, and the northern part of Chifeng. The short-term heavy rainfall in each region mostly occurred from early July to early August, and most of them were local short-time heavy rainfall. The thunderstorms happened more in the north and less in the south, with June to August being the main concentration period, and the high-frequency period of thunderstorms was from 11:00 to 20:00.The thunderstorm gales occurred less in the north and more in the south, with an upward trend in annual variation. The number of thunderstorm gales in May and June was significantly more than that in other months.Under the background of the Northeast China cold vortex, thunderstorm gales mainly occurred in the southeast and southwest quadrants of the cold vortex.
