Solitude of Self-determination:An Examination on the Self-logic behind the Social Modalities of Youth in the Era of Individualization
The concept of Solitude of Self-determination delineates a contemporary form of indi-vidual loneliness prevalent among the youth,fundamentally rooted in the construction of isolated selves by young individuals possessing a heightened sense of self-awareness.This phenomenon is character-ized by two primary aspects:the disengagement-style emotional seclusion within the private affective sphere and the demotion-style social interaction within the public social domain.The underlying self-logic that shapes the social modalities of youth is a complex interplay of self-detachment and self-re-embedding,which not only exemplifies the social selections made by youth from a self-centric perspec-tive during the process of individualization but also accentuates the dual dimensions of social demands faced by youth in terms of individuality and sociality.Upon contemplation from the vantage point of mo-dernity,the construction of the"self-logic"reflects the emotional shift and the paradoxical nature of"self-determined loneliness"amidst the interplay of affective logic and economic rationality,thereby highlighting the enigmatic facets of modernity.Thus,in confronting the emotional challenges posed by the self-determined loneliness of the youth demographic,it is imperative to transcend the emotional logic of rationalism at the conceptual level and concentrate on the development of the emotive self.On the practical plane,this necessitates a rediscovery of proximity and the establishment of an emotional community to mitigate the existential crises faced by the modern lonely self.
