Objective To investigate the changes in macular vascular density(VD)in patients with vascu-lar paralytic strabismus during paralysis and recovery periods using optical coherence tomography angiography(OCTA),and to analyze whether paralytic strabismus affects macular blood flow.Method This study adopted a cross-sectional observation experimental design and included 30 patients with vascular paralytic strabismus who visited the ophthalmology department of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region People's Hospital from December 2022 to October 2023.Using OCTA technology to assess the macular area of these patients during their paralysis and recovery periods X 6 scans.Quantitative analysis was performed on the obtained images to calculate the blood flow density of shallow and deep retinal capillaries(SCP),as well as the area without perfusion(FAZ).Results The average recovery time of 30 patients with paralytic strabismus was(60.87±16.77)days.Sixth nerve paraly-sis is the most common type.Comparing the OCTA results of paralyzed and non paralyzed eyes,it was found that the SCP of paralyzed eyes was significantly lower than that of the contralateral eye.The larger the deviation angle, the more severe the eye movement limitation, and the lower the SCP value.Compared with the recovery period,SCP significantly increased after recovery. Conclusion In patients with paralytic strabismus, the blood flow density in the macular area of the paralyzed eye decreases, and the degree of ischemia corresponds to the de-gree of eye movement limitation.
